  • NetGames Acquires Eplay Technology

    May 30, 2000

Hull, Massachusetts. NetGames, announced the acquisition of Eplay's gaming technology after lengthy negotiations with Multi Media Engineering, the parent company of Eplay.net. In an all stock transition, this results in NetGames, a leading client server portal gaming internet company, acquiring Eplay's multi-player interactive technology and its existing on line games, including the popular Chess.net.

"We are excited about the progress we have made in a few short months in putting NetGames together," stated CEO John Moore. "NetGames offers a great selection of both individual and multi-player games for the enthusiast and the acquisition of Chess.net and Eplay's sophisticated technology is an added plus. Our goal is to be the one stop gaming destination for the world's internet players and this shores up our own proprietary offerings in the classical genre. It also will allow us to add Backgammon.net, Cards.net, poolhall.net in the next few months. Plus associations with the likes of Anatole Karpov, one of the world's greatest chess players adds prestige."

Its trademark games include Chess.net, Backgammon.net, Cards.net among others. It was founded in January, 2000 and has grown to over 200,000 regular, registered users.
